Man quizzed over weapons and fake cash haul

A man is being questioned after police seized a cache of guns, ammunition and counterfeit notes following searches in Co Armagh.

Around 400 rounds of ammunition were found during the search of a vehicle in the Lake Road area of Craigavon around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

A quantity of counterfeit cash was recovered.

Police also seized 13 firearms during a further search of a house in the Portadown area.

A 58-year-old man was arrested and is assisting police with their inquiries.

DUP councillor Robert Smith, chairman of Craigavon District Policing Partnership, said it was a significant find.

"I'm absolutely amazed at the quantity which has been uncovered," he said.

"It is worrying that these arms have been out there, but there is also relief that we now have a substantial amount of weapons off the streets."
