Man 'raped woman as she slept'
A 26-year-old Belfast man has gone on trial in the city's Crown Court accused of raping a woman when she was "out for the count".
Gary Skelly, from Norglen Drive, is accused of raping the woman at a flat in the Lenadoon area of the city on December 15, 2012.
Skelly denies the charge, claiming that after a consensual liaison in the kitchen, he put the woman to bed and left in a taxi.
Opening the case to a jury, Crown prosecutor Kate McKay said the woman woke up in bed after the party and found her pants and trousers were down around her ankles.
Mrs McKay told the jury: "It is the prosecution case that this defendant had sexual intercourse with the woman when she wasn't in a position to consent."
