Man remanded in custody charged with attempted murder of man in Belfast

By Alan Erwin

A man was remanded into custody today charged with the attempted murder of another man in Belfast.

Tomas Daniel Foster is also accused of having a machete and twice threatening to kill the alleged victim.

The 28-year-old, with an address at Albertbridge Road in Belfast, was arrested in connection with an incident in the south of the city last Friday.

Foster appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court charged with attempting to murder Richard Templeton and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He faces two further counts of threatening to kill Mr Templeton - on July 11 and 17.

Bail was refused due to the risks of either re-offending or interfering with witnesses, the Courts Service confirmed.

He was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link on August 17.
