Man remanded in custody over Co Antrim murder

A 28-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of another man at a house on the north coast.

Kevin O’Neill (25) died after he was stabbed at a house in Stroanshesk Park, Ballycastle, on Sunday afternoon.

Nigel McGothigan, whose address was given as Broombeg in Ballycastle, appeared in court in Coleraine on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody and is to appear in court again via video-link on May 20.

On Sunday Mr O’Neill’s girlfriend, Lyndsay Connors, posted on a social networking site that she had lost “the only man I loved”.

His sister Megan said that the whole family was “in a state of shock”.

Mr O'Neill was a past pupil of Cross and Passion College School in Ballycastle and lived with his girlfriend in the Co Antrim town.
