Man seriously injured after M2 crash

A man has been seriously injured after a car and motorcycle crashed on the M2.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 2.23pm on Friday following reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the M2 near Duncrue Street.

Two rapid response paramedics, a paramedic officer and an emergency ambulance crew were sent to the scene.

The Charity Air Ambulance was also tasked to the scene.

Following assessment and treatment at the scene, one male patient was transferred with serious injuries to the Royal Victoria Hospital by road.

Police closed the M2 at Fortwilliam in both directions for a time while emergency services dealt with the incident.
