Man shot following 'Traveller wedding' at Londonderry bar

A man was shot in the hand last night in the car park of a bar in Londonderry.

The incident happened following a Traveller wedding at the premises on Northland Road, according to local media.

A police statement said: "A man aged in his 30s suffered an injury to his hand at around 8.30pm after a firearm was discharged following a function at the premises.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment and discharged a short time later."

A grey Volkswagen Passat was stopped in Donegal by Garda officers a short time later and a man was arrested.

Inspector Tony Moore urged any witnesses who saw the car in the Northland Road area to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number, 101.
