Man shot in both legs in paramilitary style attack in north Belfast
Police are investigating after a man was shot in both legs in a paramilitary style shooting in north Belfast.
The 30-year-old man was shot in both legs in the Velsheda Court area on Monday night.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
SDLP North Belfast MLA Nichola Mallon called on anyone with information on the incident to come forward to the police.
She said: “This attack in Ardoyne last night is a throwback to a time that people here want to leave in the past. There is no place for guns on our streets and there is no place for those who see fit to issue rough justice in this society.
“I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward to police as soon as possible.”
Sinn Fein councillor Gerry McCabe has condemned the incident.
He said: "There can be no place for these type of actions in our society.
“The people responsible need to end their campaign against the community.
“I would encourage anyone with information to bring it forward to the police."
