Man stabbed multiple times in Ballymena attack

A man has been stabbed a number of times in Ballymena.

The 21-year-old man was stabbed by two men in the Queen Street area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He managed to raise the alarm by walking to a nearby shop in the Co Antrim town.

He was taken to the Antrim Area Hospital.

Inspector Michael Simpson said: “At approximately 4am, police received a report that a 21-year-old man had been stabbed a number of times by two men close to a park in the area.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage.

“Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at Ballymena PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 96 01/03/17. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
