Man suffers head injuries in Belfast New Lodge attack

A man has been taken to hospital with head injuries following an assault in the New Lodge Road area of Belfast.

The incident was reported to police at around 7.30am on Friday 10 August.

Police and forensic officer spent most of the morning at the scene conducting their investigations.

The police did not disclose any further details.

In a statement, the PSNI said: "Police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 7:28am on Friday 10 August 2018 following reports of an assault in the New Lodge area of Belfast.

"NIAS despatched one Emergency Ambulance crew to the incident.

"Following assessment and treatment at the scene, one male was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital."
