Man suffers head injury after attack outside bar in Castlereagh

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in the Castlereagh area of Belfast.

The incident took place at Newton Park during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Officers were called after a fight involving a number of males broke out outside licensed premises in the area at around 2am.

A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for serious head injuries.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact them at Castlereagh Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
