Man taken to hospital after Omagh assault

A man was treated in hospital at the weekend after being assaulted in Omagh.

Police have appealed for information and witnesses after the man was assaulted around 8pm on Saturday inside a licensed premises in the John Street area.

The man sustained injuries to his face and hand and received treatment at hospital.

A 67-year-old man who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Constable Primrose appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"I want to appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or has information that can help our investigation to call police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 749 of 30/06/19," he said.

"Alternatively information can also be provided by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
