Man talked down from Belfast's Albert Bridge

Tragedy was averted yesterday after negotiators managed to talk a man down from a ledge on a Belfast bridge.

Described by police as a "vulnerable male", he had climbed onto the Albert Bridge over the River Lagan shortly after 3pm.

The bridge was closed in both directions while negotiators talked to the man.

He was then taken to hospital.
