Man threatened with knives

A Ravenhill Road man stood down three youths who threatened him with knives last week.

Detectives in south Belfast are appealing for information following the attempted hijacking of the man’s car at Broughton Gardens, Ravenhill Road in the early hours of Tuesday (July 20).

It is understood that the man was getting out of his car when he was approached by three youths. One youth punched the man to the face and demanded his car keys, however he refused to hand them over and shouted for help.

Two of the youths produced knives and threatened the man. All three ran off citywards along the Ravenhill Road when a relative of the victim heard the commotion and came to his assistance.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on 0845 60 8000 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
