Man threatens staff with hammer in Bangor robbery

Staff in a Bangor shop were left shaken after they were threatened with a hammer in a Bangor armed robbery.

It happened at a shop on the Ballyholme Road just before 6pm on Friday.

The man entered the shop armed with a hammer, approached the counter and threatened staff with the weapon and demanded money from the till.

He made off with cash and a quantity of tobacco. He is described as being approximately 5'8" - 5'9" tall and of stocky build.

Police said the staff were not injured but left shaken by their ordeal.

Police appealed to any customers in the shop at the time of robbery to come forward and assist with the investigation. Anyone that can help their investigation should contact detectives at Bangor on 101, quoting reference 1031 23/02/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
