A man threatened to break a police officer's nose after being arrested for suspected driving offences, the PSNI has said.

Police received a report on Monday night that a Black Audi was driving at speed and performing dangerous manoeuvres around Dungannon.

Later on officers were informed about a possible drink driver spotted on Burn Road in Cookstown.

A registration number was given and it became clear it was the same vehicle spotted driving dangerously in Dungannon.

The car was located shortly after in the Coolnafranky Park area. The driver was then stopped and arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol, stealing a car, no insurance and driving without a licence.

An officer, posting on PSNI Cookstown, said:  "Plenty of bravado followed, on arrival in custody the delightful individual threatened to break an officer's nose... eh, no you won’t, into the cell you go lad."
