By David Young

The man who died after being struck by a van as he was withdrawing money from a cash machine in Larne has been named as Michael Diaczyszyn from Glenarm.

His funeral takes place on Wednesday at St Patrick's Church of Ireland in the village.

Mr Diaczyszyn (63) is survived by his partner Mandi Ferguson, daughters Lucy and Louise, sister Hilda and three grandchildren.

Police believe a Vauxhall Vivaro parked on Main Street rolled back and hit him last Thursday. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected broken leg but later died.

The grandfather (left) had been a volunteer with the Glenarm Community Focus organisation. On the group's Facebook page, Mona Hyndman sent her sympathy to his grieving family and friends.

"It is with great sadness we have heard of the death of our friend and volunteer Michael Diaczyszyn.

"We send our deepest sympathy to Mandi and his family circle," she wrote.
