Man who died in Tyrone house fire named as Andy Lamont


A man in his 90s who died after a fire in his home has been named locally as Andy Lamont.

The fire started in the living room of the home in Knock Crescent in Ballygawley, Co Tyrone, at around 1pm yesterday.

Mr Lamont is believed to have been alone at the time. Police are not treating the fire as suspicious.

SDLP councillor Anthony McGonnell said: "Every year there are old people dying as a result of fires. There are a number living on their own who die in this dreadful way."
