Mandela Hall falls silent for tribute to Sopranos' James Gandolfini

The audience at The Alabama 3's gig in Belfast this week fell unusually silent for a brief time.

The London-based band's track 'Woke Up This Morning' can be heard on the opening credits of the hit US drama series The Sopranos.

And when lead singer Larry Love asked fans at their concert at the Mandela Hall in Belfast to pay tribute to James Gandolfini - who played the main character Tony Soprano and who died suddenly last week aged 51 - you could've heard a pin drop.

"I was told categorically that there is no way I could get Belfast to give us 30 seconds of silence tonight - but I'm sure with the right people in the room that will happen.

"I just want to say that a man called James Gandolfini died the other day - and this is the first gig we've done since we heard that news.

"So I'd like us all to just have 30 seconds of silence to remember him - thank you," he said.
