Man's body is recovered from River Foyle

By Staff Reporter

A body recovered from the River Foyle is believed to be that of missing Londonderry man Gary Campbell.

A passer-by discovered the body in the river in Co Donegal yesterday afternoon and alerted gardai.

The gardai are liaising with the PSNI and a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out today. While the identity has not been released, it is thought that it may be that of Mr Campbell.

He has been missing since March 21. His family were contacted by the police the previous night - his birthday - after he was taken from the Craigavon bridge in a distressed state.

But despite their best efforts to console him, Mr Campbell left his girlfriend's house at 3am and has not been seen since.
