Masked gang in hammer attack on house

By David Young

Masked men armed with hammers and a baseball bat have attacked a house in Tandragee.

Police are appealing for information about the aggravated burglary in the Market Street Court area shortly before midnight on Thursday September 29.

A number of men, believed to have been armed with hammers and a baseball bat, attacked a house, causing damage to the premises. The attackers are believed to have been masked and wearing dark clothing.

It's believed a family of foreign nationals lived in the house but were not the intended target of the criminals, who fled when they discovered their 'mistake'.

Local councillor, independent Unionist Paul Berry said: "The whole town is stunned. It's very unusual for something like this to happen here in Tandragee."

Anyone with information can contact detectives at Lurgan on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
