Masked man 'brandished firearm' after north Belfast altercation

A masked man on a scrambler produced a suspected firearm in north Belfast on Saturday night, police have said.

It was reported that an altercation took place between a crowd of people in the Ballysillan Avenue area of the city at around 8.30pm.

Later, at around 9.50pm, two men in a yellow coloured scrambler arrived in the area, one of whom was said to be wearing a balaclava.

It was reported that the masked man brandished a firearm, before both men left the area.

Detective Sergeant Paddy Conlan said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 2026 24/08/19."
