Masked men 'armed with gun' rob east Belfast shop

Masked men, believed to have been armed with a gun, have robbed a shop in east Belfast.

Police are appealing for information about the armed robbery at a shop in the Albertbridge Road on Monday, March 9.

At 9.45pm police received a report that two masked men - one of whom had what is believed to be a gun - entered the shop carrying recycling boxes and stole a number of items.

They fled from the scene on foot.

Detective Constable Sam McCallum said: "The men are described as both being approximately 6' tall, one was wearing a light jacket and dark jeans and the other was wearing black jeans and a dark jacket. Both men were wearing balaclavas and were carrying red and dark coloured recycling boxes.

"The member of staff was not injured during this incident, however they were left very badly shaken.

"I would appeal to anyone to may have witnessed these two men in the area or who has information about the incident to contact Detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
