Firefighters have been battling a huge blaze at commercial premises in Armagh.

The fire at Molloy’s Scrap Metals at Monaghan Road was last night threatening nearby houses and other businesses.

The 80 firefighters present also had to hose down adjoining premises to stop them catching fire.

A total of 10 pumping appliances and a number of specialist appliances including two water tankers and two high volume pumping units were used.

Chief Fire Officer Chris Kerr was called in to take command due to the scale of the blaze.
