Men charged over oil theft

A man aged in his 20s was arrested as a result of a search of a house at Glenville Park, Newtownabbey, on Friday.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted burglary, going equipped and theft.

A 18-year-old man has been charged with going equipped, attempted burglary, possession of a class 'B' controlled drug and theft.

They are expected to appear at Antrim Magistrates Court on February 1.

The charges relate to an incident in Ballyclare on the evening of Wednesday, January 5, when heating oil was stolen from a domestic tank belonging to a house at Rashee Road.

Police on patrol in the area noted a suspicious vehicle and carried out enquiries. Two arrests were made nearby.

They also relate to the attempted burglary of a house at Cherryburn Road, Templepatrick, the previous evening.
