Men demand money during attempted robbery at Belfast business premises

Two men have wrestled with a staff member during an attempted robbery at a business premises in south Belfast on Monday.

They demanded money during the incident, which happened on Castle Street at around 9pm, on January 6.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: "After a struggle with a staff member, the two males left empty handed and made off in the direction of Marquis Street, one on foot and one on a bicycle. There were no reports of any injuries to the staff member following the incident.

"One of the two males was described as early to mid-twenties, wearing a black jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms, grey gloves and a black beanie. The other is believed to be approximately 6’2” tall and wearing all black clothing.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information or who witnessed anything suspicious to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1894 06/01/2020. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
