Michael Conlan swaps boxing ring for engagement ring as he enlists daughter's help for proposal

Commonwealth champion boxer Michael Conlan has enlisted the help of his baby girl for his sweet marriage proposal to his partner.

The Belfast boxer and his partner Shauna Olali became parents to little Luisne in March.

On Friday the 2012 Olympic bronze medallist who is more used to boxing rings than engagement rings, called upon his daughter to help him pop the question.

She may not be talking yet but Luisne was instrumental in the proposal as Michael attached a note to the top of her chair asking:" Mummy will you marry my Daddy please!?!"

Not only that - but she was also holding the beautiful engagement ring in her little hand.

The 23-year-old took to Twitter to share the good news that his bride-to-be had said yes.

He posted the adorable picture of his daughter saying: "She said yes #loving it".

Congratulation messages have been flooding in with Michael's mum Teresa Conlan leading the well-wishes.

She said: "Congratulations son and Shauna on your engagement today, delighted for you both, can't wait to celebrate. #welcometothefamily".

Messages have also been flying in from the sporting world with double Commonwealth gold medallist Paddy Barnes among the first to congratulate his fellow boxer and friend.
