Minister aged 100 laid to rest

By Brett Campbell

The funeral of an "inspirational" Church of Ireland clergyman took place yesterday in the Priory Church in Killadeas, Co Fermanagh.

Canon Herbert Aubrey Hamilton Northridge was buried in the adjoining churchyard following a service which was led by Canon Harry Trimble.

The former Rector of Derg and Termonamongan had been ordained for 75 years when he passed away peacefully on New Year's Eve at the age of 100.

He moved to Fermanagh after retiring in 1981 and was a lifelong nature lover who had keen interests in gardening, fishing and bee-keeping.

Canon Northridge spent his latter years being cared for at the Tilery nursing home in Enniskillen where he maintained his passion for gardening.
