Missing man's body discovered in Ballymoney

The body of a young man found in Ballymoney last night is believed to be that of missing 24-year-old Michael Hanna.

Mr Hanna had been missing for almost two weeks.

His disappearance sparked an appeal for information from the police on behalf on his concerned family.

He was last seen in the Westgate area of the Co Antrim town on July 16 and it is understood police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Last night the remains found had not yet been formally identified.

However, the body is believed to be Mr Hanna, who is from the Ballymoney area.

Police had been due to hand out leaflets and re-trace his last known steps today.
