MLA condemns bomb hoax at Ballyclare leisure centre
A bomb alert at a leisure centre has been declared a hoax.
The Sixmile Leisure Centre on the Ballynure Road, Ballyclare was evacuated for most of yesterday after a telephoned warning that a bomb had been abandoned in the area.
A spokesman for the PSNI said despite "extensive searches" nothing suspicious was found.
South Antrim DUP Assemblyman Trevor Clarke condemned those behind the alert.
He said: "Be this a hoax or the real thing, I condemn them for their actions and praise the staff at the leisure centre and the PSNI for acting in order to ensure the safety of users and locals.
"Those responsible have nothing to offer society. People have rejected such actions of terror again and again at the ballot box. They should take heed of this message. People want to live in peace and hold such people in contempt."
