Moira crash: Man dies after two car collision

A man in his 20s has died following a two car crash near Moira, Co Down.

The accident occurred on the Moira Road near Crumlin.

The collision took place just before 3pm on the Moira side of the Nutts Corner roundabout.

The name and details of the victim have not yet been released.

The circumstances of the accident are also not yet clear.

The road remained closed for a number of hours following the accident while police conducted an investigation.

Diversions were in place at the junctions of the Ballydonagh Road and Garlandstown Road.

PSNI Inspector Stephen McGuigan has appealed to anyone who was travelling on the Moira Road yesterday afternoon and witnessed the collision to contact police in Antrim and Newtownabbey District on the non-emergency 101 number.

The man's death brings the road toll so far this year to 33, two more than at the same time last year.

In a separate incident on Friday morning, a woman from Londonderry died in Co Donegal in a crash when her car was hit by a truck.
