Monaghan teenager's manslaughter: second man faces trial

A second man is to be prosecuted for the manslaughter of a Co Monaghan teenager who was attacked in Omagh last December.

Jason McGovern (19), from Tydavnet, was attacked twice after leaving a nightclub in the Co Tyrone town on December 31.

He was found dead a number of hours later, on New Year's Day, at a friend's house across the border.

Last month, in High Court proceedings, the prosecution said Mr McGovern had been knocked to the ground and further assaulted before getting up to get a taxi. A total of six people have been charged over the teenager's death.

The Public Prosecution Service yesterday confirmed that Aaron Bradley (19), of Waterworks Road in Omagh, is to be prosecuted for manslaughter. He was previously charged with assault and affray.

Another man, Mark Donnelly (21), a motorbike racer from Greencastle Road in Omagh, has already appeared in court charged with manslaughter.

The six accused attended a court hearing on Tuesday.
