More than 3,400 homes without power across Northern Ireland

Thousands of homes across Northern Ireland have been left without electricity on Tuesday evening with power cuts across the province.

A spokeswoman for NIE Networks said that as of shortly before 8pm on Tuesday evening 3,429 customers were without power, with the majority of these in the Ballyclare district.

Areas around Armagh and Ballycastle have also been heavily impacted. 

One power outage in Larne which started at 6.42pm has impacted more than 1,200 customers.

NIE Networks estimates it will have restored power to this area before 10pm.
