Mother and daughter (8) tied up in horrific Northern Ireland robbery

By Allan Preston

A mother and her eight-year-old daughter endured a horrific ordeal when they were tied up by two masked men armed with a hammer in Omagh yesterday evening.

The woman required medical treatment afterwards after her attackers hit her in the face.

Detectives are appealing for information after the aggravated burglary.

It took place at a house on the Tattyreagh Road area between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

By 7.15pm, police had been alerted that the two men had forced their way into the house.

The attackers left the woman and her daughter tied up.

The two men were reported to have made off with a quantity of jewellery.

PSNI Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson appealed for any witnesses to the assault to contact detectives at Omagh Police Station by calling the non-emergency number 101.
