By Adrian Rutherford

A woman has told how she was left choking in her smoke-filled home after it was targeted in an arson attack.

Eileen Collagan and her 32-year-old son were rescued from the blaze at their Killard Place home in Finaghy.

The fire happened at about 2.30am yesterday.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson. He was released on bail on Monday morning pending further police enquiries.

Ms Collagan described how she was woken by her son, who was sleeping downstairs at the time.

She told the BBC: "He shouts up to me: 'Mammy, hurry up and get out, the house is on fire.'"

She said the property was filled with smoke and that she was "choking" and "couldn't see a thing", adding: "Then the fire brigade came and they had to give us oxygen.
