Mother of baby twins jailed after assaults
A mother of nine-month-old twins who admitted hitting a woman on the head with a crutch and assaulting three police officers has been jailed for four months.
Amanda Deehan (29), from Primrose Street in the Waterside area of Londonderry, is currently serving a seven-month jail sentence imposed on her last month for assaulting police officers.
She is not due for release until June 14, for her twins' birthday.
A prosecution solicitor told District Judge Barney McElholm at Derry Magistrates Court that a property owner called the police to his rented flat on February 29 and said he wanted three drunken women who were in the flat removed, one of which was the defendant.
Defence solicitor Maeolisa Barr said Deehan had recently been assessed as "having a borderline personality disorder".
Imposing the four-month jail sentence, Mr McElholm said it would not interfere with Deehan's due release date.
