Motorcycle cop is treated in hospital after being trapped under car following collision

A police motorcyclist was trapped under a car after a collision in Belfast city centre yesterday morning.

The incident, at Corporation Street, was reported to police shortly after 10.15am.

Inspector Paul Noble said: "This officer has now been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries. A female in her 40s was also treated for shock at the scene."

Meanwhile, four men aged 27, 28, 28 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two pedestrians were struck by a car in west Belfast. It happened on the Andersonstown Road at around 2.30pm.

A man and woman aged in their 20s were walking close to the Kennedy Centre when they were struck by a black BMW that failed to stop.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

A black BMW believed to have been involved in the incident was abandoned a short time later in Gransha Park after it collided with two parked cars.
