Motorcyclist undergoes surgery after Antrim crash

By Staff Reporter

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital yesterday after his bike crashed on the Roguery Road near Toome in Co Antrim.

The road was closed to traffic between Brecart Road and Cloghogue Road as police launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.

The Northern Health Trust confirmed that a male motorcyclist in his 40s was last night undergoing surgery in Antrim Area Hospital following the Toome crash.

In a separate incident in North Antrim, a two car collision forced the closure of the Ballybogey Road between Ballymoney and Portrush.

The crash happened between the Castle Road and Revellagh Road. Diversions were put in place for a time, and the busy road reopened to traffic yesterday evening.

Local people said the Ballybogey crash scene was an accident blackspot. "How many more accidents there before the road layout is changed?" Bushmills man Chris Elliott wrote on the PSNI's North Coast Facebook page.
