Motorists in Co Tyrone urged to drive carefully after down pour washes debris onto roads

Motorists in Co Tyrone have been urged to drive carefully after torrential rain washed debris onto many roads.

DUP councillor Wills Robinson said roads in the Clogher Valley were dangerous due to an hour of heavy rain on Friday afternoon.

He said:  “People need to be really careful particularly at night. Large stones have been washed into the roadway and in many cases verges have collapsed into fields.

"In one case a bridge had started to give way to the floods. The bridge is in the townland of Glenageeragh.  I have notified the authorities.

"In all my years living in the Clogher Valley I have never experienced or witnessed rain like what came down on Friday afternoon. It started around 3pm and lasted solid for an hour and then started to ease.”
