Firefighters battling a major gorse fire on the Mourne Mountains have been hailed as "heroes", as fresh concern mounts over the economic impact on the area as a result of the blaze.

Dozens of firefighters and as many as 12 pumping appliances tackled the blaze at its peak, trekking as high as 850 metres to the summit of Slieve Donard in order to help bring it under control.
