Belfast Zoo's new baby giraffe George starred in his first photoshoot yesterday.

The rare Rothschild's giraffe calf is named after tragic Coleraine tot George Evans, who died last year aged seven months after suffering complications from birth as a result of an undiagnosed brain condition.

Mum Kirsty created the George and the Giraffe Facebook page to document George's life and keep his memory alive.

Throughout his life George was accompanied by a toy giraffe. When Belfast Zoo welcomed the giraffe into the world earlier this month they took to social media to ask for name ideas.

It was suggested calling the giraffe George would be the perfect tribute. Mum Kirsty Doherty said she was "over the moon".
