Murder in Turkey: I sat beside murdered woman on holiday flight

A man who was held in Turkey last month accused of being a member of al-Qaida has told how he shared a flight with murder victim Kathy Dinsmore.

Coleraine friends Peter Ferris (55) and Harold Reilly (31) had been on holiday in the resort of Kusadasi where the Co Down women had been staying.

The men went through a terrifying ordeal when they were arrested at the end of their trip and held by Turkish authorities who believed that they were terrorists. Mr Ferris posted a message on social networking site Facebook to say that he was "devastated" by the news of the women's brutal murders.

"I have cried my eyes out," he wrote.

"Kathy sat between Harold and myself on the flight from Belfast to Turkey on July 16.

"We met Kathy, Marion and Shannon [Marion's daughter] a few days later.

"Our prayers and thoughts go out to the families and friends."
