Murder in Turkey: Tragic coincidence for victim's ex-husband

By Anne Madden

Murder victim Kathy Dinsmore was killed on the same day her ex-husband's second wife died in hospital.

In a bizarre and tragic coincidence, Dan Doyle, from Newry, suffered the double blow of losing both the women he had wed.

While the murder of his first wife Kathy hit the headlines, he was also left mourning his second wife and mother of his three children, who died suddenly in Craigavon Area Hospital.

Dan married Colette after his divorce from Kathy Dinsmore many years ago.

Dan and Kathy had no children together.

Colette had seven children, having had several from another relationship.

She had been suffering from an illness before her sudden death from a suspected heart attack in hospital last week.

Mrs Doyle, from Martin's Lane in Newry, was buried yesterday in Clough, Co Down. Funeral Mass was held in the Church of St Mary of the Assumption in Newry.

The Dinsmore family have been haunted by tragedy.

Kathy Dinsmore's teenage cousin, Patrick Dinsmore, died suddenly in August last year after collapsing on a pitch in Rostrevor, Co Down, while playing Gaelic football.

The St Colman's College pupil died two days before his 17th birthday after suffering a suspected massive heart attack. The tragedy occurred as the teen was waiting for his GCSE results. He had planned to go on to do A-levels.
