Murder inquiry after man's body found in Armagh

A murder inquiry is underway after a man's body was found at an apartment in Armagh city.

The man, 32, was found yesterday in the Castle Street area.

Sinn Fein MLA Cathal Boylan said: "In a relatively small city such as Armagh, such a death has a very profound effect."

He added: "I would appeal for anyone with any information as to what happened to this gentleman, no matter how small or irrelevant they think it may be, to pass that information on to the investigating team."

SDLP councillor Mealla Campbell said: "There is going to be widespread concern because this will be the third murder that we have had in Armagh in the past three years and there are two outstanding, unresolved murders."

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out.
