Murder victim Lyra McKee's funeral to be held in Belfast next week

The funeral of journalist Lyra McKee will be held in Belfast on Wednesday, it has been announced.

Lyra, who was 29, was shot during disturbances in the Creggan area of Londonderry on Thursday night. Police have blamed the New IRA for her murder.

Her funeral service will be held at 1pm in St Anne's Cathedral on Donegall Street in Belfast, followed by burial in Carnmoney Cemetery.

A gunman aiming to kill police hit the talented 29-year-old in the head. He fired indiscriminately during disturbances in the Creggan estate.

An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder were released without charge on Sunday evening.
