A man accused of inflicting a knife wound to his mother's stomach claims she self-harmed, the High Court has heard.
Dominic Duris (31) was arrested after specialist armed response officers were sent out to the scene of the alleged attack in Co Fermanagh. Duris, of Blackrock Park, Commons, Belleek, denies charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault on police, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
A judge was told his mother Elizabeth, who lives in a neighbouring house, phoned police in the early hours of May 26 to say Duris was in her home and in a violent mood. Tessa Kitson, prosecuting, said officers overheard Duris threaten his mother and say he had a knife.
The accused claimed to have no memory of the incident because of medication he was on.
“He stated he couldn't remember anything but said his mother self-harmed,” Mrs Kitson added.
Conditional bail was granted.
