N Ireland 999 line fault fixed

Engineers have fixed a technical fault which had meant the 999 emergency number was not working from some landlines in Northern Ireland.

Police said the emergency service was always available to anyone using a mobile phone.

A BT spokesperson said that a number of customers across Northern Ireland had been "experiencing disruption as a result of a potential hardware problem at one of our main processors, situated in Belfast city centre".
