N’abbey forced to hire help

Newtownabbey Borough Council hired specialist equipment to help with the snow clearing work last week.

The council reported that despite the snow, burials were taking place as normal in the cemeteries and the leisure centres were also open.

Bruslee Recycling and Civic Amenity Site reopened last Monday, December 20 but with limited facilities available on site.

The bin collection service was unable to operate on Monday and the previous Friday but the council hoped to catch up on any missed collections, weather permitting. Residents are asked to leave their bins out for collection as normal and to leave any excess household waste in a black bag beside their black bin.

With their normal duties disrupted the bin collection teams helped clear snow.

The performances of ‘Christmas Eve Can Kill You’ on December 17 at the Theatre at The Mill were cancelled. Ticket holders are asked to contact the box office on 9034 0202 as soon as possible to arrange another date for the show.
