New chair for Ards
A new Chairman has been appointed to lead the Ards area’s local policing body.
Councillor Jim McBriar will chair the Ards District Policing Partnership (DPP), the organisation set up to influence the plans and priorities for policing in the area, for one year.
Mr McBriar said he was delighted with his election and the opportunity to build on the substantial work of the DPP, particularly in the area of community consultation and engagement. “We all want to ensure that local people really do have a say in local policing and I would pay tribute to my predecessor, Councillor Angus Carson, for his work in the past year to help ensure the DPP’s work is meaningful and reflects the views of local people.”
Councillor McBriar has been congratulated on his new position by Chief Inspector Philip Knox, the PSNI area commander.
