New chapter for Comber library

Comber Library has opened its doors after the completion of the first phase of refurbishment since its construction in 1969.

Libraries NI has invested £100,000 and committed to a further £100,000 expenditure for more improvements.

Strangford MLA Michelle McIlveen, welcomed the investment and said: “During times of economic downturn, libraries perform an increased role in communities providing information, support and learning opportunities for those seeking employment.”

Helen Osborn, Director of Service Delivery, Libraries NI, said: “Libraries NI will continue to work with our customers in Comber to provide a modern library service supporting reading, learning, culture, heritage and information.”

I know that staff members have been delighted with the response from customers and they look forward to continuing to welcome existing borrowers, returning customers and newcomers to the library.”
