New contact number for city planning enquiries

By Staff Reporter

Belfast residents wanting to make enquiries about planning issues now have a new number to call - 028 9050 0510.

The number is now operational and is for residents and developers in the Belfast City Council area. It replaces the public enquiry service previously operated by NI Direct.

In addition to enquiring about planning applications and receiving general planning advice, the number can be used to report breaches of planning permission and to enquire about tree preservation orders, the protection and preservation of built heritage, and the local development plan, which outlines how land should be used and developed in the future.

"These moves are part of a wider improvement plan, as we make every effort to continually develop the service we offer to the ratepayers of Belfast," said Donal Lyons, chair of the council's planning committee.
